Where do I even begin? These past 17 months have been the best months of our lives and they get better and better each day with you.
You are a little copy cat these days and we have to watch the things we say because not only will you copy, but you are talking clearer and clearer every day. We are actually able to have little conversations with you. There have also been multiple occasions where we are upstairs playing and I will shout “Hey Ry” to get your daddy’s attention. Well, you will copy me and shout “Ry…hey Ry!” and although I shouldn’t laugh and encourage it, you crack me up. You also don’t forget things because the other morning when you woke up you also proceeded to shout “Ry!” You know that daddy is “dada”, so although you say Ry to him every now and then, he can’t be mad at it. (He does like to get mad at me for it though.)
Recently, you finally started to like mama’s singing voice. I am not offended that it took you this long because I will be honest, it’s awful. When I sing to you now you will say “again, again!” We sing a lot in the car on the way to Aunt Ginnie’s and daycare every morning.
The recent development of your little attitude has also started to sprout. You definitely know what you want and you do not like when you don’t get your way. Sorry kiddo but even though you look at me with those big brown eyes I still have to say no at times. We have actually lightly started sitting you in timeout. You are not a fan of timeout, but that’s a good thing. No kids are. Maybe this will teach you to listen to mama and dada.
You love to run laps. You have a lap that you do around the dining room table and it keeps you so content. At Aunt Ginnie’s house you go around her couch. It’s so funny because you are entertained for so long going around and around. Occasionally you will pop out and say “boo!”
You are getting taller. The other day you were playing in the kitchen and dining room. Daddy and I assumed you were running your laps, but it got quiet. When we went to check on you, you came around the corner saying “mmm” and holding out a marshmallow with a little bite taken out of it. I quickly jumped out of my seat because I did not think there was any way that you could reach the top of the island. Well, you did. And you managed to dump out the bag of marshmallows on the floor (luckily there were only like 5 left) and in a little pile lied all the marshmallows on the floor with a bite taken out of them. Needless to say, your daddy and I couldn’t even be mad and we let you finish the one marshmallow. We thought you would be excited, but, you decided that Chuggins should have it instead and threw it to him.
Then there is “GEEE YAAA” aka Mickey, Chuggy and Cookie. The word is pretty much your 3 favorite things. It’s funny because we think you talk pretty clearly, but for some reason those 3 words are “gee ya” and I love it. I hope that you call them “gee ya” for a long time.
Last night you went trick-or-treating for the first time. I think you surprised many homes when you said “thank you” after they gave you a treat. We tried to teach you to say trick-or-treat, but you just say “tickle, tickle, tickle”. We also tried to teach you to say Happy Halloween and surprisingly you would say “Happy Wee”. I think that is rather impressive for being 17 months old. J
We love you baby boy.
Love,
Mommy
xoxo
