This past weekend my bestie hosted her 3rd annual Friendsgiving! I absolutely love Friendsgiving; it is the first event to kick off the holiday season. I look forward to this day every year. Aside from the delicious feast, all of my best friends are in one room which is always a wonderful time. This year there were 8 kids at Friendsgiving and it was the most adorable mess of chaos you will ever see. The kids ranged in age from 7 months to 3 ½ years. They were all little baby angels, but we still made sure to have plenty of adult beverages on hand.

Thanksgiving is only a few days away and so this week my toddler activity is handprint turkeys!
I shopped at JoAnn Fabrics because I had been running errands in the area; you know Target, Carter’s and Old Navy. J I bought washable kids paints, paint brushes and had a few left over mini canvas (but you can also buy them at JoAnns). Nolan was so excited when I asked him if he wanted to paint. I prepared for him to get super messy and had taken off his shirt and put him in his highchair but he kept saying “cold” so I put it back on him. I don’t blame him, I am always cold! Besides, it is washable paint and I seriously think the shirt was $2.50 from Target.

I painted Nolan’s palm and thumb brown and then each finger a different color. Then I
pressed Nolan’s hand on the canvas and “Ta Da” a turkey! Nolan kept saying “turkey,
turkey” as we painted! I made 2 turkeys and then gave Nolan an extra canvas, 2 paint
brushes and let him have at it! I am not opposed to my little one exploring and getting
messy. He loved it and did not want to stop. He probably would have painted all night if
we let him. At one point he looked at his hand and started to paint it like I had done and
then was pressing his hands on the canvas! Of course, at this point the paints all looked.

After the paint dried I used a sharpie to add an eye, beak and wattle. Nolan’s turkey will proudly be displayed at our family Thanksgiving dinner.
